Apologies for not posting anything up here for nearly a month – been swamped with the day job + business travel – however I am working on a new dark fantasy genre story. More to follow...

Another quick catch-up – new writings and pictures really are on there way – to say...

* I'm now off to Buxton to do 3 shows at the Fringe Festival this Sunday, Monday and Tuesday

* And, I've just had a micro-fiction ultra short story published in the online horror webzine Flashes in the Dark. Its called Mickey had already gone – and its my usual cheery fare in which nobody gets out of the story alive. You can find it here: http://flashesinthedark.com/

Charles Christian – that's me – is visiting Australia at the end of this month to do a couple of seminars with software vendors with the day-job. I fly into Sydney on the morning of Monday 27 July – will be in Melbourne for part of 29th/30th – and depart mid-day Saturday 1st August. In between the jetlag, seminars and (hopefully) partying, I'm available for meetings, readings, performances and whatever – I'm particularly good at whatever.

I'm currently in Spain – but culture is never far away – good to see Lorca can finally come out of the shadows...

Charles Christian says... Yes, I know it was only last month I said 'sod Twitter, it is completely pointless' but now I'm back – at the request of some of my digital nomad friends who say that actually it is a useful way to keep in touch if you live a peripatetic 24/7 lifestyle – although admittedly this is using the technology as more of a group SMS texting facility. I can be found at @ChristianUncut – and this time I'm going to try to concentrate on quality rather than quantity.

Just had a longish, dark fantasy (& semi-autobiographical – well at least half of it is true) short story Waiting for My Mocha to Cool published in issue #3 of Paraphilia Magazine. It starts on p.24 – however as Paraphilia is a large downloadable PDF publication, I'll just leave a link www.paraphiliamagazine.com

If you are in Brighton (England) on Tuesday evening, try to catch IS&T editor Charles Christian's new one man show Tales from the Digital Slow Lane, which is part of this year's Brighton Fringe Festival. Not a poem in sight, just storytelling...

View Article  Tales from the Spoken Word Frontline
Just come back from a live lit/spoken word event and I'm wondering these two things...

* Why do so many male poets still write like Charles Bukowski ?

and

* Why do so many male poets still read or perform their work like Adrian Mitchell in 1968?

Can we please move on?

Starting this coming Monday, I'm going to 'tweeting' on the Twitter 'micro-blogging' service. If you know what it is, then 'good' as I don't need to explain it you. If you don't know what it is... bit of a problem but try it anyway as it costs nothing. I'll be mainly posting about the journalism day job but I'll also be covering the writing world generally, plus events (literature/spoken word & otherwise), plus – hopefully – some human interest stuff. You can 'follow' me – Charles Christian – at http://twitter.com/FourthEstate
